Your Team
As a Senior/Staff Software Engineer in our Data Engineering group, you will contribute to scaling and advancing our entire data operation. This includes procurement and ingestion of new datasets, enabling data processing and analysis in research and production environments, building data-related infrastructure and tooling, and collaborating closely with various teams to facilitate and improve their usage of data. You will work with our team lead to design, scope, and deliver large scale projects within the team. You will collaborate closely with a diverse group of engineers, and directly impact the team's productivity and successful delivery. You will help to define the team's technical roadmap towards achieving strategic-level engineering goals. You'll participate in mentorship and development of other engineers on the team, and shaping our company's engineering culture.

Responsibilities
β’ Guide complex initiatives from initial requirements gathering and robust system design to deployment, effectively evaluating dependent technologies and collaborating closely with stakeholders.
β’ Build scalable data infrastructure and shape the developer experience, tackling projects such as owning data cataloging, versioning, and lineage to support seamless research and production workflows.
β’ Provide technical guidance to both engineering and research staff, fostering a supportive environment that accelerates the growth of your teammates.
Requirements
β’ Computer Science / Engineering bachelorβs degree (or equivalent)
β’ 5+ years of relevant software engineering experience
β’ Proven track record of software design and implementation with focus on correctness, robustness, efficiency, and scale
β’ Experience working with large codebases and building modular, extensible, and maintainable software
β’ Expertise in a modern programming language, such as Python, Go, Java or C++
β’ Hands-on experience developing in a Linux/UNIX environment
β’ Design and implementation of scalable services and APIs, highly-available systems, and/or large-scale data infrastructure
β’ Experience with data storage and management technologies (e.g. PostgreSQL, Artifactory, Ceph, Redis)
β’ Strong communication skills and a knack for explaining complex ideas with clarity and simplicity
Preferred Qualifications
β’ Familiarity with the following strongly preferred:
β’ Cluster management and containerization technologies (e.g. Kubernetes, Docker)
β’ Cloud storage, querying, and processing technologies (e.g. Iceberg, BigQuery, Snowflake, DynamoDB, Trino/Athena)
β’ Experience building data platforms with a developer experience lens β designing APIs, access patterns, or tooling that abstracts infrastructure complexity from end users
β’ Job scheduling and orchestration technologies (e.g. Airflow, Slurm)
Compensation
The base salary range for this position is $225,000 to $310,000 in the location(s) of this posting. Individual salaries are determined through a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography. Base salary does not include other forms of total compensation such as bonus compensation and other benefits. Our benefits package includes medical, dental and vision coverage, life and AD&D insurance, 20 days of paid time off, 9 sick days, and a 401(k) plan with a company match.
