Who will you be working with?
As the Manager, Product (Locomotive Systems), you will report to the Manager, Engineering & Products and work with a team of talented engineers and software developers responsible for designing, developing, and delivering our industry-leading Freight & Transit electronics solutions. You will manage and work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, operations, and customer support, to ensure our solutions meet the evolving needs of our customers.
 
How will you make a difference?
In this role, you will be responsible for managing the engineering projects to meet ISO9001, CMMI and Wabtec Policy requirements as demanded by our customers and corporate. You will work closely with the engineering team to achieve high-quality output with high efficiency to the customer satisfaction, while also contributing to the business development team to drive sales and profitability goals. Additionally, you will be responsible for, but not limited to:
β’ Define and maintain product vision, roadmap, and strategy. Create and maintain a product STRAP for the corporate for Locomotive Performance Enhancement System (QES-III, Axle Gen, AESS, CHM, etc..) and other similar systems
β’ Conduct market research and gather customer feedback to inform product decisions.
β’ Ensure alignment between technical feasibility and business objectives.
β’ Translate business requirements into technical specifications for development teams.
β’ Establishing and coordinating work plans and delivery timelines, drafting Project Management Plans, Communications Plans, and other project start-up documentation.
β’ Manage end-to-end project delivery, including quoting, planning, execution, and risk management.
β’ Coordinating and facilitating project meetings, which includes interfacing with various teams (internal and external) to provide updates, drafting meeting agendas and minutes, and actively managing project risks, actions, decisions, and issues tracking tools.
β’ Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure timely and high-quality product releases.
β’ Prepare and develop various proposal materials to meet tight timelines.
β’ Perform all aspects of organizational work.
β’ Support the Engineering Team in ensuring the systems meet all associated design criteria and specifications per the proposal and the contract.
β’ Deliver monthly, quarterly, and yearly milestone payments for projects to meet the financial targets.
β’ Track contract terms and conditions to completion
β’ Track and organize project tasks, deliverables, and letters.
β’ Track, organize and deliver on project milestone payments.
β’ Track and organize project metrics.
β’ Lead and participate in project scheduling activities.
β’ Supervise a cross-functional engineering team to manage product deliveries.
β’ Communicate with customers on project progress.
β’ Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers and/or product professionals.
β’ Conduct performance reviews, set goals, and create development plans.
β’ Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
β’ Manage resource allocation and team capacity planning. 
What do we want to know about you?
β’ Bachelorβs degree in engineering, with experience in project/product management.
β’ 5+ years of engineering experience in product management and/or project management roles, customer service experience.
β’ 2+ years of sales experience in rail or transportation industries.
β’ Able to Travel internationally to customer sites for meetings (10-25%).
β’ Strong background in Project management, with a proven track record of leading teams to deliver high-quality, efficient, and customer-focused solutions.
β’ Strong understanding of electrical and software development processes and technologies.
β’ Proficient in ISO9001 and CMMI standards and their implementation in an engineering environment
β’ Excellent project management and resource allocation skills to ensure the team achieves its goals.
β’ Collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including product management, operations, and customer support.
β’ Experience in business development and contributing to the sales and profitability goals of the organization.
β’ Team building and Management.
β’ Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, or the public. 
What will your typical day look like?
As the Manager, Projects (Locomotive Systems), your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
β’ Review, analyze and delivery as per customer contracts is a must.

What about the physical demands of the job?
β’ The role may require occasional travel to customer sites, which may involve standing, observing small writing and labels, climbing, and wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary.
β’ Ability to lift, carry, and move test hardware and equipment up to 30 lbs.

β’ Ability to work at a lab bench performing hands-on testing, setup, and troubleshooting.

β’ Ability to connect and interact with small components, cables, and test fixtures.

β’ Ability to stand or sit for extended periods depending on testing needs.

β’ Ability to work in an electronics lab environment following ESD and safety protocols.

β’ Have manual dexterity to be able to work with various hardware for testing purposes.

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary range for this role is between $95,800-$120,000. The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands, and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
