The role
As Engineering Manager for Map & Route, youβll lead the team responsible for how mapping context, routing decisions, and operational constraints translate into reliable, production-grade vehicle behaviour. This is a high-impact role at the intersection of vehicle software, cloud services, data pipelines, and real-world operations. Youβll set clear ownership and interfaces across teams and geographies, and raise the bar on reliability, delivery, and technical excellence in a mission-critical part of the autonomy stack.
Key responsibilities
β’ Lead the Map & Route team, setting direction, execution cadence, and delivery standards.
β’ Own the end-to-end lifecycle for mapping and routing capabilities: requirements, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and iteration.
β’ Define and drive clear system boundaries, interfaces, and data contracts across teams to reduce duplication and improve integration.
β’ Partner with stakeholders across vehicle software, autonomy, product, safety, and operations to align priorities and make crisp trade-offs.
β’ Drive operational excellence for production services, including observability, SLIs/SLOs, incident response, and continuous improvement.
About you
In order to set you up for success as an Engineering Manager at Wayve, weβre looking for the following skills and experience.
Essential
β’ 2+ years leading and developing an engineering team, delivering outcomes through others across multiple quarters.
β’ Strong systems and architecture judgement, with experience designing and evolving production services, APIs, and data flows.
β’ Proven ownership of production systems with reliability expectations, including on-call, incident response, monitoring, and operational improvement.
β’ Excellent cross-functional communication and stakeholder management, with the ability to drive clarity and execution in ambiguity.
Desirable
β’ Experience working across vehicle software and cloud services, or similarly complex hybrid software environments.
β’ Experience defining clear ownership boundaries and shared interfaces across multiple teams or product lines.
β’ Experience working with commercial suppliers or external vendors in a data, platform, or infrastructure context.
