About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Back-end Developer (Java) to join our Payments team at Welltech, a global leader in Health & Fitness with over 200 million installs. You'll be part of a team building a modern, internal payments platform from the ground up, streamlining payment operations across our business.
Key Responsibilities
- →Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Frontend/Backend Engineers, Infrastructure, QA (SDET), and Product Managers to design, develop, and deliver innovative solutions
- →Design and implement robust systems that translate functional and non-functional requirements into scalable, reliable, and maintainable software
- →Build and operate high-performance microservices using Spring Boot, owning services end-to-end
- →Manage deployments and configurations across Kubernetes clusters, ensuring smooth rollouts and minimal downtime
- →Champion system excellence by taking responsibility for performance, scalability, security, and data consistency
- →Drive engineering best practices including clean code, test automation, continuous integration, and DevOps principles
- →Mentor team members and lead engineering initiatives
Requirements
- ✓Proven Java expertise with at least 5 years of hands-on experience building robust applications
- ✓Strong grasp of microservices principles and experience designing distributed systems
- ✓Deep, practical experience with the Spring Boot ecosystem
- ✓Solid experience with relational databases like PostgreSQL
- ✓Previous experience with AWS or another major cloud provider and practical experience with Kubernetes
- ✓Comfort working with REST, gRPC, messaging systems, and asynchronous communication patterns
- ✓Solid understanding of modern CI/CD pipelines and automation practices
- ✓Demonstrated experience writing comprehensive unit, integration, and API tests
- ✓High proficiency in both written and spoken English
