About the Role
The Senior Korean Linguist ensures high-quality Korean-language deliverables by managing translation and copy-editing tasks, coordinating with freelancers and agencies, and maintaining key language resources. This role involves handling terminology and style queries, collaborating with clients and internal teams to improve workflows, and supporting overall quality efforts through editing and error arbitration.
Key Responsibilities
- →Perform copy-editing tasks on assigned projects or accounts
- →Perform on-demand translation tasks
- →Take ownership of deliveries translated internally or by external partners for one or more accounts into their target language
- →Prepare, manage, and maintain language materials such as glossaries, style guides, and work instructions
- →Manage project-related queries
- →Ensure good interaction among team members and resolve questions on terminology and language matters
- →Coordinate with freelancers, agencies, and internal linguists on assigned projects or accounts
- →Test and qualify new freelancers and vendors as required
- →Develop and train internal linguists and freelancers in alignment with account requirements and Welocalize’s standards
- →Interact with clients on linguistic matters as required
- →Participate in the development of new and improved working processes
- →Meet or exceed key performance metrics related to productivity, on-time delivery, and quality
- →Achieve the goals set by the Team Manager
Requirements
- ✓Native-level proficiency in Korean
- ✓Fluent in English, both written and spoken
- ✓8+ years of relevant experience in translation, localization, editing, or content writing
- ✓5+ years of experience in linguistic review and copy-editing
- ✓Thorough understanding of the localization process
- ✓Excellent knowledge of terminology used across various subject matters
- ✓Experience serving as a subject-matter expert for assigned content specialties
- ✓Excellent user experience with standard CAT tools and issue-tracking tools
- ✓Ability to learn new localization tools and applications quickly
- ✓Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- ✓Ability to work with tight deadlines
- ✓Excellent problem-solving skills
- ✓Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and linguists
