About the Role
We are seeking a Firmware Engineer to support and maintain hardware abstraction layers and engineering commands related to channel hardware applications. This role involves firmware integration and optimization of HDD read/write performance.
Key Responsibilities
- →Support and maintain a hardware abstraction layer and special purpose engineering commands
- →Perform firmware integration of vendor channels to optimize HDD read/write performance
- →Develop validation scripts as developer and debug tools
- →Create test scripts for deployment within a Continuous Integration environment
- →Follow Agile methodologies and contribute to a scrum team supporting Enterprise level HDDs
- →Plan, perform, summarize, and present findings for channel verification and failure analysis
- →Serve as a reference for basic read/write channel functionality
- →Collaborate with suppliers’ technical support teams and internal product teams
- →Provide problem solving, algorithm design, and risk mitigation for channel applications
- →Work with internal and external teams to provide firmware and test script abstractions
- →Support integration of new channel features and performance evaluation
Requirements
- ✓Experience with firmware development and hardware abstraction layers
- ✓Knowledge of magnetic recording and Hard Disk Drive technologies
- ✓Familiarity with Agile methodologies and Continuous Integration
- ✓Strong scripting and validation script development skills
- ✓Understanding of digital signal processing and algorithm design
- ✓Ability to work with technical teams and suppliers
- ✓Experience with failure analysis and performance evaluation
