As promised some additional positions we are looking for:
Senior Backend Engineer / Platform Architect
Specialty Cyber Insurance MGA
About the Role
We're building a next-generation cyber insurance MGA platform by integrating best-in-class vendors into a cohesive system. We need a senior backend engineer who can own the technical architecture, design the unified data model, and write production code, not just diagrams and documents.
This is a hands-on technical role and a foundational hire. You'll be the technical architect designing how data flows from submission intake through quoting, binding, policy issuance, and finance. Then youβll build the system. We're a small team where everyone ships code.
We expect heavy use of AI coding assistants. You'll leverage agents like Claude Code, Cursor, and similar tools to move fast. You need to already be using AI to accelerate your development workflow.
What You'll Do
Design the Canonical Data Model: Build and maintain the data model that spans multiple vendors supporting functions such as policy administration system, rating engine, finance, claims, etc. and our proprietary systems
Build the Integration Layer: Design and implement the APIs, webhooks, and data pipelines connecting vendors with our our proprietary systems
Write Backend Services: Develop any required microservices, background jobs, and data processing pipelines to power our platform
Build Core Data Infrastructure: Design the data lake/warehouse that aggregates policy, claims, and financial data for analytics and reporting
Ensure Data Integrity: Implement reconciliation between systems (e.g., policy records in policy admin system vs. premium transactions in Finance)
You Should Have
7+ years backend engineering experience with significant time spent writing production code (not just architecture/consulting)
Current, active coding practice: you've shipped code in the last 6 months, not managed others who did
Proficiency with AI coding tools: you already use Claude, GPT, Copilot, Cursor, or similar daily and understand how to prompt effectively and validate AI-generated code
Deep experience with system integration: you've built (not just designed) integrations between multiple SaaS platforms
Strong data modeling skills: relational databases, event schemas, API contract design
Experience with financial/transactional systems where data consistency matters (fintech, payments, insurance, or similar)
Familiarity with event-driven architectures: Kafka, message queues, webhooks, state machines
Production experience with Python, Node.js, or Go (we're flexible on language)
Cloud infrastructure experience (AWS or GCP)
First year:
All core vendor integrations built and operational
Data warehouse serving underwriting analytics and financial reporting
Clear technical roadmap for scaling to additional carriers/products
