What You Should Bring to the Table
A strong foundation in design principles is non-negotiable. We're talking typography, colour theory, grid systems, and visual hierarchy β not just knowing the terms, but applying them instinctively. You should be fluent in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and ideally comfortable with tools like Figma or Canva for quick-turnaround social content.
Beyond the software, what really matters is your eye. Can you look at a brand and understand its soul? Can you translate a brief β sometimes a vague one β into something that actually communicates? Experience with social media creatives, branding, print collaterals, and digital ads is a big plus. A working knowledge of file formats, print-ready artwork, and basic motion graphics will set you apart from the crowd.
Soft skills matter here too. You should be open to feedback, able to handle revisions without ego, and quick enough to meet deadlines without sacrificing quality.

Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects is essential. Kling AI experience is a bonus, especially if you're comfortable with colour grading.
You should know how to work with raw footage and shape it into something compelling β whether that's a 15-second Instagram reel, a brand film, or a product explainer. Motion graphics and basic animation skills will give you a real edge. Understanding of audio mixing, sound design, and subtitle/caption formatting shows you care about the full viewing experience, not just the visuals.
Familiarity with platform-specific formats β vertical video for Reels and Shorts, widescreen for YouTube, square for feeds β is increasingly essential in a social-first content world. If you shoot as well as edit, that's a genuine differentiator.
