If you are a #medical professional, work in #clinical #research or with clinical #trials, and you need #interpreting, read this. I was approached with a similar job and offered terms and conditions not compatible with professional services. This will put your clinical trial at risk.
Let's say you want to set up a Zoom call with medical professionals participating in a clinical trial, and you need an interpreter for roughly three hours for a combination of #simultaneous and #consecutive #interpreting. One interpreter will be enough, as long as you'll only need simultaneous for about 20-25 minutes. A short break before continuing with consecutive is a good idea. You'll have to send all relevant documents to the interpreter several days in advance so that they can prepare.
#Conference #interpreters in Europe will most probably tell you that this goes under the heading of a half-day job, and will give you a rate that is slightly higher than half of their daily rate. They will not have an hourly rate. Daily rates vary, but one thing is certain: a budget of 150 USD that I was offered isn't enough to get you a professional interpreter for three hours. Please note that the agency you're hiring will take their cut, and it may be considerable.
I was also told that I can only get paid via Google Pay, and that the legal venue for any disputes between me and the agency is in a third country, on a different continent. This is not compatible with professional services, and is highly unlikely to be accepted by any professional interpreter.
If you need advice on finding a professional interpreter, please get in touch with me or one of my professional colleagues here. Look for a 'conference interpreter'. The listings of professional associations may also be a good starting point.
This job would have involved #Hungarian and #English (both ways), and I also offer #German to Hungarian. In general, conference interpreters are available in a great many language combinations on all continents.
