Japanese-Indonesian Interpreter

Morning Fellas, UMAI Group (PT Enak Group Indonesia) HIRING Japanese ⇄ Indonesian Interpreter / Business Coordinator Employment Type Full-time / Contract (negotiable) Location Jakarta (mainly Sudirman area) Occasional on-site visits to kitchens and partner locations Mission To act as a bridge between Japanese management and Indonesian teams, ensuring that not only words, but intent, context, and business judgment are accurately communicated. This role is critical to: • Speed up decision-making • Prevent misunderstandings • Enable smooth execution of operations and partnerships ⸻ Key Responsibilities Interpretation & Translation • Consecutive interpretation (Japanese ⇄ Indonesian) for : • Internal meetings • Franchise owner meetings • Partner and business development meetings • Translation of business documents and communications: • Business plans • SOPs • Presentation and explanation materials (No legal judgment required) Business Coordination (Important) • Accurately convey management intent and nuance to local teams • Translate local feedback, concerns, and opinions back to Japanese management • Summarize meetings and create simple meeting notes • Accompany management to kitchens, franchise locations, and on-site meetings when necessary This is not a pure interpreter role. We are looking for someone who understands business and operations. ⸻ Required Qualifications (Must Have) • Japanese language: Business level or higher (JLPT N2 equivalent or above) • Indonesian language: Native or near-native • Experience working with Japanese professionals or companies • Strong comprehension skills — able to understand discussions and explain them clearly • Based in Jakarta or able to work in Jakarta ⸻ Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have) • Experience in startups, F&B, franchise, retail, or delivery businesses • English communication skills (basic to intermediate) • Practical experience in consecutive interpretation • Ability to work independently and proactively ⸻ Ideal Candidate Profile • Goes beyond literal translation and seeks to understand why things are being discussed • Comfortable with business discussions, numbers, and KPIs • Enjoys a fast-moving, hands-on startup environment • Understands cultural differences between Japanese and Indonesian work styles • Interested in expanding into Business Development, Operations, or HR roles in the future ⸻ Salary & Benefits • Monthly Salary: IDR 8,000,000 – 13,000,000 (Depending on experience and skill level) • 3-month probation period • Transportation allowance • BPJS • Salary review based on performance and business growth ⸻ Career Growth Opportunities • Interpreter → Business Coordinator • Interpreter → Operations / HR / BizDev support • Participation in regional or international expansion projects ⸻ Recruitment Process 1.
