Java Engineer

We’re #hiring for a Senior Java Engineer at FCM Travel Australia within our Corporate Technology team. 📍South Bank, Brisbane QLD 🔴 Role Highlights We’re seeking a Senior Java Engineer to own and enhance the core backend systems powering our One Touch workforce travel experience. This is a deep backend role focused on high‑availability, high‑volume processing, not full stack. You’ll deliver key capability uplifts such as change and cancellation handling, waitlist management, and advanced policy‑engine integrations across mission‑critical systems operating 24/7 for major Australian mining and resources clients. 🎯 Ideal Candidate • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with deep expertise in Java (Java 11+, ideally Java 17 or 21) • Proficient with AI coding tools (Claude, GitHub Copilot) and able to critically evaluate AI‑generated code in production contexts • Strong track record designing and building complex REST APIs and Web • Services (SOAP/WSDL); including versioning, contract design, and error handling at scale • Background in workforce management, resource scheduling, FIFO logistics • Familiarity with API gateways, service mesh, microservices strategies 🔧 Qualifications • Experience in travel technology GDS systems (Amadeus, Sabre, Galileo), NDC, PNR management, travel platforms • Expert‑level knowledge of the Spring ecosystem: Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data JPA, Spring Security, and Spring Integration • Azure cloud experience: App Services, AKS, Service Bus, Application Insights 🌟 Why FCTG? ◾ Certified Great Place to Work® ◾ Access to LinkedIn Learning & tailored development pathways ◾ Exclusive travel & retail discounts ◾ Global career opportunities ◾ A culture of inclusion, wellbeing, and giving back Are you ready to join one of the world’s largest travel companies?
