Position: Translator / Interpreter
π Job Summary
The Afghanistan Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies (AISRS) is seeking a qualified Translator/Interpreter to support its research, media, and public engagement activities. The position involves providing high-quality written translation and oral interpretation between English, Dari, and Pashto, ensuring linguistic accuracy, cultural sensitivity, and strict confidentiality.
π Key Responsibilities:

Translate written materials including research papers, reports, media content, legal and official documents.
β
Translate and transcribe audio and video materials.
β
Provide consecutive and simultaneous interpretation for meetings, conferences, workshops, and interviews.
β
Proofread and edit translated content for accuracy, clarity, and consistency.
β
Support AISRS events, publications, and engagements with national and international stakeholders.
β
Maintain organized records of translated materials and adhere to professional ethics and confidentiality standards.
π Required Qualifications & Experience:
β
Bachelorβs degree in Translation, Linguistics, English, Journalism, International Relations, or a related field.
β
Minimum of 3 years of professional translation and/or interpretation experience.
β
Full professional fluency in English, Dari, and Pashto (written and spoken).
β
Strong writing, editing, and listening skills; ability to meet tight deadlines.
β
Experience with media, research institutions, NGOs, or international organizations is an asset.
π Working Conditions:
β
Office-based in Kabul with standard working hours.
β
Occasional domestic travel for conferences and field activities.
