We're hiring a designer.
Full transparency β it's been a journey. I've met some really awesome people over the past few months. Great work, great conversations, but no perfect fit. For those reading this that I've already spoken to, I see great things ahead for you all.
For those STILL reading and wondering where this is going... here goes.
Vital is moving in an exciting direction, one that as a leader and partner of 15 years has me more locked in than ever.
Since 2012, we've leaned into inbound marketing with SEO as its backbone. It treated us well. Very well. Then along came AI β the SEO killer. Or so we thought. What actually happened is it forced us to confront something we probably should've said out loud sooner: the mechanism for marketing success has always been branding. Not your ability to claw your way to the top of Google.
That realization shifted our attention right back to our humble beginnings. Compelling visual work that tells authentic stories, makes people feel something, converts leads, and turns first-time buyers into lifelong brand loyalists. Design and creative strategy is the foundation of every great client relationship β and by proxy, every great brand.
So what does that mean for this role?
The definition of "visual designer" is different at every agency. On my team, it means working across 100+ clients in higher ed, fintech, manufacturing, eCommerce β you name it. It means brand systems, responsive web design, campaign concepts, UX thinking, and collaborating with our studio team on motion and social content. Figma and Adobe CC are the daily drivers. Typography and graphic design aren't just skills on your resume β they're the thing that makes you tick.
But honestly, tools and deliverables are the easy part. A great designer can learn any tool and produce any deliverable as long as their default setting is to figure it out. To accept the challenge and refuse to ship something they're not proud of.
Our team is growing because what we're doing is working. The demand for authentic visual storytelling is accelerating, and we need to expand without losing the core of what makes this team special.
AI isn't the boogeyman anymore β it's part of how we push creative further and faster. If that excites you more than it scares you, we're probably going to get along.
So if you made it this far, I'll assume you're interested. Apply, reach out, tell a friend, drop a comment, start a fight β whatever feels appropriate. Either way, I'm excited for what's ahead and what this team is capable of.
