The Institute for Applied Linguistics and the Center for Migration and Societal Change are looking for a Junior Researcher to join “Voices of Heritage Languages – Researching the Interplay of Heritage Language Education and Social Cohesion.”

🔹 Start: January 2026 🔹 Funding: Autonomous Province of Bolzano/Bozen (Joint Projects South Tyrol–Switzerland 2025) 🔹 Partners: Universities of Teacher Education Bern and Lucerne 🔹 Languages: Job description available in Italian and German 🔹 Deadline: November 10, 2025

Key requirements: 🔹Completed Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics, Sociolinguistics, Sociology, Social Anthropology, Migration Studies, or another relevant field or at least 1 year of research experience; experience with multilingualism is an advantage. 🔹Experience with qualitative or mixed methods, especially document analysis and interviews; familiarity with participatory methods, particularly arts-based approaches, is a plus. 🔹Willingness to relocate to South Tyrol (or nearby) for fieldwork in South Tyrol. 🔹Fluent Italian and English; solid German. 🔹Knowledge of Albanian, Arabic, or Urdu is an additional asset.
