Sr. Manager of Total Rewards | Acorns
Acorns is seeking a strategic Sr. Manager of Total Rewards to lead the design, implementation, and evolution of our global compensation and benefits programs. In this role, you'll own the architecture of our compensation and benefits strategy β designing for equitability, competing for exceptional talent, and building the kind of rewards experience that reflects what Acorns stands for.
Acorns is a remote-first organization, offering the flexibility to work remotely while providing optional access to office space in Irvine, CA.
What you will do at Acorns:
- Own and evolve Acornsβ global compensation and benefits strategy, ensuring alignment with Total Rewards principles, business goals, and our mission-driven culture.
- Serve as a strategic advisor and thought partner to leadership, using data, market insights, and emerging practices to inform compensation decisions and drive outcomes.
- Lead end-to-end global compensation programs, including planning, administration, communication, policy design, and equity/stock compensation strategy.
- Oversee global benefits and Leave of Absence programs, ensuring offerings are competitive, equitable, and aligned with employee needs across markets.
- Partner closely with HR Operations to optimize Workday, managing and evolving job architecture and compensation frameworks to support scale and consistency.
- Continuously assess market competitiveness, leveraging surveys and benchmarking to proactively refine total rewards strategy in a dynamic landscape.
- Manage and develop a Total Rewards team member, providing coaching, mentorship, and hands-on partnership to drive execution.
- Ensure full compliance across all jurisdictions, maintaining adherence to state, federal, and international compensation and benefits regulations.
- Manage global immigration programs, partnering with external counsel and internal stakeholders to support visa sponsorship, work authorization, and compliance across jurisdictions.
What you will bring to Acorns:
- 9+ years of progressive experience in Total Rewards management, preferably in a global or multinational organization.
- Deep understanding of equity/stock compensation, job leveling, and advanced data analysis.
- Strong project management skills, with a track record of successfully implementing system enhancements (specifically Workday).
- Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills to translate complex vision into executable strategy.
- 2+ years of people management experience.
- Demonstrated experience motivating, supporting, and developing team members to meet performance expectations and build their careers.
- Ability to align company vision and organizational goals with team execution.
- Commitment to upholding policy and procedures per company standards.
- Own strategic decision-making and effectively communicate direction to team members.

Compensation Information:
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $170,000 and $185,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including equity grants, and discretionary cash bonus awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
