About the Role

We are looking for a highly motivated Staff Software Engineer to join our Deal Reporting team at Affirm. This role will help empower the team's first international presence and build critical integrations, services, and testing infrastructure to support Affirm's loan funding processes.

Key Responsibilities

→Set technical strategy for your team on a year-long time scale, aligning with critical business projects
→Collaborate across teams in the product development lifecycle with product management, design, and analytics
→Act as a force-multiplier through technical solution definition and operational process advocacy
→Ensure team operations and availability through proper monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, testing, and alerting
→Foster a culture of quality and ownership by setting code review and design standards
→Help develop talent on your team through feedback, guidance, and leading by example

Requirements

✓7+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using Python or Kotlin
✓Extensive track record of developing highly available distributed systems using AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes
✓Knowledge of Spark and its inner workings is required
✓Experience with task orchestration systems like Airflow or Temporal is a plus
✓Experience delivering major features, system components, or deprecating functionality through technical and execution plans
✓Ability to thrive in ambiguity and understand systems from low-level language idioms to large-scale architecture
✓Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with global engineering teams
