About the Role
We are looking for a Software Engineer to join the Payments Infrastructure team at Airbnb. This role focuses on building and operating foundational systems that make Payments reliable, scalable, and developer-friendly across production and non-production environments.
Key Responsibilities
- →Own the health and evolution of Payments testing and staging ecosystems
- →Lead complex incident triage and guide cross-team mitigation in test environments
- →Set technical direction for test process, test infrastructure, data strategy, and observability
- →Partner with senior engineers, QE, and Infra on org-wide reliability initiatives
- →Mentor engineers and raise the bar for Payments quality
Requirements
- ✓7+ years of software engineering experience in a fast-paced, high-scale environment
- ✓Strong coding skills in Java, Python, or Scala
- ✓Proven experience designing, building, and operating distributed systems end to end
- ✓Deep understanding of debugging complex production and non-production failures
- ✓Strong sense of ownership for availability, reliability, and system correctness
- ✓Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
- ✓Experience building testing infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines and testing environments
- ✓Experience with payments, financial systems, or regulated environments is preferred
- ✓Hands-on experience with distributed storage systems (MySQL, TiDB/CockroachDB, Redis, etc.)
- ✓Familiarity with AWS and large-scale cloud deployments
