About the Role

We are looking for a Principal Security Engineer to own security at Apollo Research from end to end. This is the first dedicated security role at Apollo, responsible for maintaining trust with AI lab partners and enabling the research mission.

Key Responsibilities

→Build and own Apollo's security programme, including the security roadmap and risk assessments
→Maintain trust with frontier AI lab partners by serving as the primary security point of contact
→Set security direction for engineering, defining principles and strategy
→Define how Apollo uses AI tools, agents, and integrations
→Own the security tooling stack and automate security operations
→Drive compliance and certification efforts
→Own IT administration across the organization

Requirements

✓7+ years experience in security engineering, security operations, or related technical security role
✓Track record of building buy-in for security practices
✓Experience building or maturing a security programme
✓Familiarity with cloud security (AWS IAM, networking)
✓Experience with compliance frameworks (ISO 27001, SOC 2)
✓Hands-on experience with endpoint management and identity/access management
✓Experience administering Google Workspace
✓Interest in Apollo's mission of AI safety
