The Aurora Driver will create a new era in mobility and logistics, one that will bring a safer, more efficient, and more accessible future to everyone.
At Aurora, you will tackle massively complex problems alongside other passionate, intelligent individuals, growing as an expert while expanding your knowledge. For the latest news from Aurora, visit aurora.tech or follow us on LinkedIn.
Aurora hires talented people with diverse backgrounds who are ready to help build a transportation ecosystem that will make our roads safer, get crucial goods where they need to go, and make mobility more efficient and accessible for all.
Weβre searching for a Software Engineer to join our Map Fusion team to develop algorithms that allow our vehicles to detect and respond to dynamic environmental changes like construction and emergency vehicles in real-time. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of "classical" geometric algorithms and modern machine learning to solve high-stakes, real-world safety challenges
In this role you will
β’ Develop onboard algorithms for updating map content in response to changing scenes such as construction zones and people directing traffic.
β’ Implement real-time compute solutions to update maps from sensor data on-the-fly while maintaining strict performance constraints.
β’ Collaborate cross-functionally with Motion Planning, Localization, and Fleet Intelligence teams to ensure seamless map integration.
β’ Contribute to safety cases around modern machine learning methods to ensure rigorous safety standards are met.
β’ Utilize graph-centric and geometric algorithms to produce the local geometry of lane lines and driveable surfaces used by the motion planning system.
Required qualifications
β’ Proficiency in C++ with a focus on building functional, production level software.
β’ Proficiency in Python for algorithm development and testing.
β’ Strong 3D geometric reasoning skills to handle complex mapping data.
β’ Solid understanding of graph theory, including practical applications of algorithms like Dijkstraβs.
Desirable qualifications
β’ Experience with Deep Learning methods and their application to real-world data.
β’ Familiarity with Bayesian Inference for probabilistic reasoning.
β’ Experience in Spline Manipulation for geometric path and surface modeling.
β’ Background in autonomous vehicle technology or related high-performance computing industries.
The base salary range for this position is $139,000 - $223,000 per Year. Auroraβs pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidateβs starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions.
