About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Firmware Engineer to join the team behind Jade, Blockstream's flagship open-source hardware wallet. This role focuses on building and refining the firmware that secures users' assets.
Key Responsibilities
- βWork as a core contributor to the Blockstream Jade firmware, writing robust, secure C/Python code within a small, agile team.
- βExtend and optimize support for advanced signing protocols such as taproot, atomic swaps, and simplicity.
- βDesign and implement features like air-gapped camera signing, cryptographic primitives, and secure communication protocols.
- βDevelop optimized solutions to work within a resource-constrained execution environment.
- βContribute to a transparent, open-source codebase visible to the entire Bitcoin community.
Requirements
- βProven track record in C/C++ development for microcontrollers with real-world ESP32/ESP32S specific experience.
- βSolid understanding of Bitcoin internals, with a specific focus on Taproot, SegWit, and PSBTs.
- βExperience with secure boot, memory protection, and defending against software-based and side-channel attacks.
- βComfortable working with peripherals (cameras, screens) and low-level protocols (SPI, I2C, UART).
- βAn active GitHub presence with contributions to open-source projects is highly preferred.
