In This Role
You will be a hands-on WordPress Developer responsible for supporting the migration, development, and ongoing maintenance of multiple large-scale, customer-facing websites. You will work across both front-end and back-end development, ensuring websites are scalable, performant, accessible, and aligned with modern web standards.
This role involves upgrading existing WordPress themes, migrating sites to new hosting environments, and enhancing development workflows through automation and build tools. You will collaborate closely with designers, developers, and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality web experiences while maintaining operational reliability.
Responsibilities
β’ Migrate existing WordPress websites to new hosting platforms with minimal disruption
β’ Upgrade and maintain WordPress themes, including transitioning between theme framework versions (e.g., Sage 9 to Sage 11)
β’ Develop and maintain custom WordPress functionality using core APIs, hooks, filters, and best practices
β’ Build and enhance both front-end and back-end components using PHP, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery
β’ Implement and optimize build pipelines and automation workflows using tools such as Webpack, NPM, and Yarn
β’ Collaborate with cross-functional teams including designers and developers to deliver user-friendly, responsive, and accessible websites
β’ Perform code reviews and contribute to maintaining high code quality and performance standards
β’ Conduct cross-browser and cross-device testing to ensure consistent user experiences
β’ Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve issues in production and development environments
β’ Maintain version control using Git or similar tools
β’ Support continuous improvements in web infrastructure, performance, and development processes
Qualifications
β’ 3β5 years of experience in web development with a strong focus on WordPress
β’ Proven experience migrating WordPress websites between hosting platforms
β’ Hands-on experience updating WordPress theme frameworks (e.g., Sage versions)
β’ Strong proficiency in PHP for back-end development
β’ Solid understanding of front-end technologies including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery
β’ Experience working with WordPress core functions, hooks, filters, and theme development
β’ Experience with build tools and automation frameworks such as Webpack, NPM, and Yarn
β’ Familiarity with CSS preprocessors such as SASS
β’ Experience using version control systems such as Git
β’ Strong understanding of responsive design and cross-browser compatibility
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent practical experience
Preferred Qualifications
β’ Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure or similar environments
β’ Experience with automated testing frameworks and practices
β’ Exposure to agile development methodologies
β’ Understanding of user authentication and authorization concepts
β’ Experience working on large-scale or high-traffic websites (e.g., media, publishing, or enterprise platforms)
β’ Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Salary Range
At Blueprint, we strive to offer competitive pay that reflects the value of our team members. Compensation for this role is influenced by a variety of factors, including skills, education, responsibilities, experience, and geographic market. For candidates based in Washington State, the anticipated salary range is $38 β $41 per hr. Please note that we typically do not hire new employees at the top of the posted range. Actual starting pay will be determined based on experience, skills, and internal equity. The final salary and job title may vary depending on the selected candidateβs qualifications and could fall outside the stated range.
