About the Role

We are looking for a Performance Optimization Lead to join Canva's Video Group. This role involves leading a specialized team of engineers and shaping the long-term performance roadmap for video products.

Key Responsibilities

→Hire, mentor, and support a team of performance and systems engineers
→Shape the long-term performance roadmap for the Video Group
→Partner with Video Engine, AI Research, Product, and Design teams
→Champion performance-aware engineering practices across the organization
→Drive delivery of performance-related improvements and internal tooling
→Define and track key performance indicators aligned with Canva’s goals
→Contribute to technical design reviews for new features

Requirements

✓Proven experience leading engineering teams in fast-moving environments
✓Strong end-to-end systems thinking across frontend, backend, and native engines
✓Ability to translate performance ambitions into actionable engineering roadmaps
✓Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
✓Balance between long-term architectural quality and pragmatic delivery
✓Comfortable using telemetry, experimentation, and A/B testing
