About the Role
Blue Man Group Orlando is seeking a full-time Head of Automation and Carpentry to lead the technical departments responsible for show operations. This management position oversees all automation, rigging, and scenic elements while ensuring safety and artistic vision alignment.
Key Responsibilities
- →Manage the Automation and Carpentry Departments for daily operations and show coverage
- →Create and maintain department schedules, budgets, and payroll
- →Train and develop department members through ongoing education and performance management
- →Oversee maintenance, repair, and construction of all automation, rigging, and scenic elements
- →Ensure safe operation of all technical systems in compliance with OSHA regulations
- →Collaborate with production management, artistic direction, and other technical departments
- →Troubleshoot technical issues and maintain show running tracks
- →Participate in load-in, load-out, and special events as required
Requirements
- ✓5+ years of experience in theatrical automation or similar environment
- ✓Extensive knowledge of automated and rigging systems and show control equipment
- ✓Basic understanding of power transmission, pneumatics, electricity, and safe rigging practices
- ✓Experience with metal and wood shop work including cutting, grinding, drilling, and welding
- ✓Previous leadership experience with strong people management skills
- ✓Bachelor's degree in Technical Production or equivalent relevant work experience
- ✓Ability to obtain OSHA 30 certification and work varied shifts including weekends and holidays
- ✓Fluent English communication skills and right to work in the United States
