About the Role
We are looking for a Head of Department, Wardrobe to lead our Wardrobe team for resident shows. This position collaborates with the Show Technical Director and Costume Shop to construct, maintain, and run production costumes safely and consistently.
Key Responsibilities
- →Oversee departmental task lists and crew scheduling for day and show crews, rehearsals, trainings, and show calls
- →Conduct staff performance reviews and assist with hiring new employees
- →Support staff by establishing and training show tracks, staffing, and run of show procedures
- →Work with Technical Director on establishing and maintaining show budgets; manage records, storage, and inventories
- →Manage inventory and order procurement of supplies for maintenance and upkeep
- →Establish systems for inspection and maintenance of costumes, shoes, and accessories
- →Develop systems and procedures for maintenance of information and technical specifications on all costumes and accessories
- →Lead staff in costume fittings, manage items in Costume Database, transfer costume notes, and check in new costumes
- →Coordinate and oversee support for special projects including research, purchasing, construction, and installations
- →Participate in media events
- →Ensure all departmental documentation is completed accurately and timely
- →Adhere to German occupational safety and health regulations and promote a safe working environment
- →Assist other departments for cross-departmental support
Requirements
- ✓At least five years of experience as a professional Costume Technician with experience in costume repair, shoe repair, makeup, and millinery on large-scale stage productions
- ✓Previous leadership experience leading projects and crew
- ✓Working knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook); knowledge of SAP and Photoshop is an asset
- ✓In-depth experience in theatrical costumes for large-scale production
- ✓Availability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays
- ✓Ability to perform essential functions including crouching, kneeling, standing, lifting (at least 50lbs unassisted)
- ✓Fluent in English and German, both written and spoken
- ✓Verification of the right to work in Germany
