About the Role
The Real Estate Services (RES) division of DCAS seeks a Chief of Staff to support the Deputy Commissioner and senior staff across all units in the RES division. This executive role involves advising on business, legal, administrative, and strategic issues.
Key Responsibilities
- →Work directly with the Deputy Commissioner and senior leadership on real estate matters and agency administration
- →Serve as liaison to agency staff, other agencies, and government entities for policy, budget, and procedural decisions
- →Prepare detailed work plans for projects including needs assessments, procurements, and resource allocation
- →Engage in public affairs, legislative oversight, and external response protocols
- →Perform complex research and prepare detailed summary, progress, and tracking reports
- →Develop and implement protocols for internal and external meetings
- →Prioritize calendar activities and key initiatives
- →Oversee Human Resources needs including recruitment, hiring, training, and team-building
- →Maintain organized files, resources, and procurement documents
- →Lead preparation of compliance reports
- →Represent the Deputy Commissioner at meetings with the Mayor’s Office, NYC agencies, and private partners
Requirements
- ✓Executive-level experience in government administration or real estate
- ✓Strong understanding of real estate transactions, zoning, and land use
- ✓Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- ✓Ability to manage multiple high-level responsibilities simultaneously
- ✓Experience with policy development and implementation
- ✓Knowledge of municipal government operations
- ✓Strong organizational and project management abilities
- ✓Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
