About the Role

The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is seeking a City Research Scientist to join the Office of Vital Records. This role involves analyzing operational data, producing reports, and supporting system modernization efforts to improve service delivery and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

→Develop, produce, and distribute daily operational reports and workload analyses
→Compile, validate, and coordinate data for internal and external reporting
→Monitor, track, and respond to commissioner-level inquiries and customer escalations
→Analyze operational performance metrics to identify trends and potential risks
→Develop, update, and maintain workflow documentation and internal process standards
→Review and update customer-facing forms and online content
→Support system modernization efforts by testing operational systems
→Train, onboard, and supervise HRTP interns and staff volunteers
→Coordinate across units to support data accuracy and continuous improvement

Requirements

✓Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
✓Strong written and verbal communication skills
✓Experience analyzing operational or administrative data in a high-volume environment
✓Strong proficiency with Excel and data analysis tools
✓Ability to translate data into clear, actionable insights
✓Experience coordinating across teams and working with diverse stakeholders
✓Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
✓Experience in customer service and operations preferred
