About the Role
The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is seeking an IT Automation Engineer to support its digital transformation efforts. This role involves planning, supporting, and maintaining network infrastructure across wastewater treatment plants and facilities throughout New York City.
Key Responsibilities
- →Install, configure, and support networking hardware including switches, routers, access points, and wireless infrastructure
- →Assist in network modernization projects including hardware upgrades and equipment relocations
- →Troubleshoot LAN and WAN connectivity issues at field locations
- →Coordinate site deployments and upgrades with IT departments, vendors, and contractors
- →Maintain accurate network documentation including diagrams, IP inventories, and cabling layouts
- →Provide secondary support for telecommunications systems
- →Ensure compliance with DEP's EEO and EHS standards
Requirements
- ✓Experience with network infrastructure and telecommunications systems
- ✓Knowledge of Cisco and Arista networking hardware
- ✓Ability to troubleshoot connectivity issues
- ✓Strong documentation skills
- ✓Understanding of network modernization principles
