UX/UI Designer, Production & Execution - Direct Contract
β’ Location: Remote
β’ Type: Contract (long-term fractional, with potential for full-time conversion based on business need)
β’ Reports To: Director of Design
β’ Start: ASAP
As Cro Metrics continues to scale its integrated growth marketing services, the Design team is expanding to meet rising demand across CRO experimentation, website design, lifecycle marketing, and paid media. This role is part of a strategic hiring plan to bring on reliable, high-quality design talent that can operate with consistency and speed across our full service offering.
This is a production-focused design role. You'll be the engine behind our design output β translating strategy, wireframes, and creative direction into polished, pixel-perfect deliverables at pace. You'll work closely with strategists, engineers, and analysts across the company to deliver high-quality design work across multiple clients and channels. This is a long-term fractional contractor role. Most contractors stay on contract β the relationship is designed to be sustainable at part-time hours. Conversion to full-time employment happens selectively when there's a clear business need and mutual interest. Either way, we're looking for someone we can build with long-term.
About Cro Metrics
At Cro Metrics, we're on a mission to redefine growth for organizations and brands through unparalleled digital experiences that inspire action and deliver results. We are an experiment-led growth marketing agency that partners with mission-driven and high-growth companies to scale through data-driven experimentation. Our expertise spans A/B testing, personalization, paid media, lifecycle marketing, and full-funnel digital strategy β empowering clients to make smarter decisions that drive measurable results.
Our fully remote team of strategists, analysts, engineers, and designers works across industries including eCommerce, fintech, nonprofit, and hospitality. We believe in autonomy, collaboration, and innovation as we help our clients grow smarter and faster.
About the Role
The Designer: Production & Execution is responsible for the consistent, high-quality output of design deliverables across Cro Metrics' integrated service lines. You'll take written briefs, hypotheses, and creative direction and translate them into polished designs β from experiment variations and landing pages to email templates and paid media assets. Speed, accuracy, and craft are your trademarks.
This role is ideal for a designer who takes pride in executional excellence, thrives with clear direction, and can manage a high volume of deliverables across multiple clients and channels without sacrificing quality.
The first 5β10 business days of the engagement are a paid evaluation period. You'll do real client work at your full contract rate. At the end, we'll either continue the engagement, extend the evaluation for a few more days if we need more signal, or end the engagement β and in all three cases, we'll tell you why and pay for all hours worked.
What You'll Do
β’ Produce high-fidelity mockups and design assets for A/B tests, landing pages, product pages, funnels, email/SMS campaigns, and paid media creative across multiple client accounts.
β’ Execute within established design systems and brand guidelines, maintaining visual consistency and integrity across every deliverable.
β’ Interpret written briefs, hypotheses, and requirements to independently develop and deliver polished, production-ready designs in Figma β you'll often be working from a description of what's needed rather than pre-made wireframes.
β’ Support rapid experimentation cycles by delivering test-ready design variations quickly and iterating based on results.
β’ Prepare and organize design files for clean handoff to developers, ensuring specs, assets, and annotations are clear and complete.
β’ Manage your workload across multiple concurrent projects, communicating proactively about capacity, timelines, and blockers.
β’ Collaborate closely with strategists and engineers to ensure alignment on intent, feasibility, and brand standards.
β’ Adapt quickly to new client brands, learning their visual language, voice, and constraints to produce on-brand work from the start.
β’ Contribute to and maintain component libraries and reusable templates that improve team efficiency over time.
What We're Looking For
β’ 2β4 years of experience in UI/UX design, digital production design, or a similar executional design role.
β’ Strong Figma proficiency β you're fast, organized, and build clean, well-structured files with proper components, auto-layout, and naming conventions.
β’ A portfolio demonstrating production-quality work across web, email, and/or paid media β we want to see craft, consistency, and range.
β’ Comfort working within existing brand systems and constraints rather than always designing from scratch.
β’ Experience with conversion-focused design β landing pages, eCommerce flows, experiment variations, or similar.
β’ Ability to manage volume β you can handle multiple concurrent deliverables across different clients and channels while maintaining quality.
β’ Strong attention to detail β pixel-perfect output, consistent spacing, correct typography, and adherence to specs.
β’ Clear communication skills β you ask good questions, flag issues early, and keep stakeholders informed.
β’ Fluency with AI design tools β you actively use AI tools to support and accelerate your work (ideation, asset generation, iteration, etc.), not to replace the craft, judgment, and quality that make a designer great.
β’ Self-directed and reliable β you manage your time well, meet deadlines consistently, and don't need to be micromanaged.
AI is a hard requirement, not a preference. This role requires active, demonstrated use of AI tools in your daily workflow. You'll be asked to show concrete AI-integrated workflows during the interview process. Candidates who cannot demonstrate practical AI tool use will not advance.
Must Haves
β’ Experience at a CRO, experimentation, or growth marketing agency.
β’ Familiarity with designing for A/B testing platforms (Optimizely, VWO, or similar).
β’ Basic understanding of HTML/CSS and how designs translate to front-end development.
β’ Experience designing email templates for ESPs (Klaviyo, Braze, Iterable, or similar).
β’ Exposure to paid media creative formats and platform specs (Meta, Google, LinkedIn, etc.).
What Success Looks Like
β’ You consistently deliver polished, on-brand, test-ready designs on time and with minimal revision cycles.
β’ Strategists and developers trust your output and view you as a reliable production partner.
β’ You manage a steady cadence of deliverables across multiple clients without quality dipping.
β’ Your files are clean, well-organized, and easy for developers to work from.
β’ You proactively flag issues, ask clarifying questions early, and communicate about capacity honestly.
β’ Over time, you contribute to templates and reusable assets that make the whole team faster.
