About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Developer Engineer to join our team at Elastic, the Search AI Company. This role focuses on improving storage efficiency for metrics, logs, and other types of data, advancing our ES|QL solution, and optimizing the storage layout for object storage.
Key Responsibilities
- →Work with a globally distributed team of experienced engineers focused on data storage mechanisms and query capabilities of Elasticsearch
- →Be an expert in the storage engine area, improving areas based on questions and instincts
- →Design and implement advanced algorithms and data structures, often working at the system and hardware level
- →Engage with our global community for triaging and resolving issues and pull requests
- →Write idiomatic modern Java, as Elasticsearch is 99.8% Java
Requirements
- ✓Strong core Java skills and conversant in the standard library of data structures and concurrency constructs
- ✓Excellent understanding of concurrent and parallel programming principles
- ✓Excellent background in applied data processing (data structures, algorithms)
- ✓Familiarity with storage systems and low-level abstractions in OS
- ✓High level of autonomy and ability to take on projects from beginning to end
- ✓Solid software engineering foundations with a proven track record of designing and delivering high-quality solutions
- ✓Experience with data storage technologies like Elasticsearch, Solr, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Cassandra
- ✓Excellent verbal and written communication skills
