About the Role
We are looking for experienced Directors of Engineering to lead our "Apps" business domain as we scale. This role focuses on guiding technical strategy and building empowered teams to deliver real impact for our mission of making solar energy accessible to everyone.
Key Responsibilities
- →Set technical direction for domain-level integration between teams and external systems
- →Represent the domain in key decisions when team members are not in the room
- →Review RFCs, guide architectural decisions and help shape bounded contexts as we evolve our system landscape
- →Lead the evolution from project-based work to product-oriented development
- →Lead and mentor a group of Engineering Managers and Staff Engineers
- →Empower and enable teams for continuous improvement
- →Scale teams thoughtfully as the domain grows 30–50% over the next 12 months
- →Work as equals with product counterparts to align on domain north star and system landscape
- →Manage stakeholders across sales, operations, and fulfillment
- →Lead pragmatic improvements in engineering practices, including incident response, security posture, and end-user experience
- →Balance immediate business needs with long-term technical health
- →Take responsibility for domain-level planning and delivery in accordance with quarterly planning cycles
- →Establish metrics and processes that support both team health and business impact
