About the Role
Epic Games is seeking a Lead Animator to join their team working on Fortnite, developing Emote concepts and animation for various IP partners and Epic Original Content. This role requires a strong understanding of animation fundamentals and how they relate to acting, rhythm, and game animation.
Key Responsibilities
- βOversee and supervise character-specific animations such as dances and emotes in Maya and Unreal
- βGuide emotes from initial concept through animation and final implementation in Unreal Engine
- βCollaborate across various art disciplines at Epic and with Vendor teams
- βLead the growing library of cosmetic animations/emotes, shaping and driving the style and feel of Fortniteβs animation
Requirements
- βAnimation reel showing key-framed character and creature animations
- βStrong experience with Maya and gameplay systems such as Unreal Engine
- βGood instincts for realistic and stylized motions
- βStrong communication and leadership skills and experience
- βRelated skills such as modeling, skinning, rigging
- βExperience working with mocap data
- βLeadership experience having shipped at least one title
