About the Role
FieldAI is seeking a Software Engineer, Human-Robot Interaction to shape how humans and robots communicate and collaborate in real-world environments. This role involves designing intuitive interfaces that make robots approachable and effective partners for operators across diverse industries.
Key Responsibilities
- →Design and build human-robot interaction systems
- →Architect and implement dialogue systems for natural, multimodal communication
- →Develop interaction frameworks that adapt to user expertise and environmental context
- →Create mechanisms for operators to understand robot intent and decision-making
- →Integrate foundation models into HRI pipelines
- →Design systems to improve foundation model efficiency on edge
- →Translate HRI research insights into practical, field-deployable systems
- →Conduct user studies and field experiments to validate interaction designs
- →Collaborate with perception, planning, and autonomy engineers
- →Work with product and UX teams to align designs with user needs
Requirements
- ✓Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field
- ✓Experience developing human-robot interaction systems
- ✓Proficiency with foundation models and their integration into production systems
- ✓Strong programming skills in Python and C++
- ✓Understanding of HRI principles, including user modeling and trust calibration
- ✓Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in interdisciplinary teams
- ✓Ability to translate research ideas into practical systems
- ✓Excellent communication skills and collaborative mindset
