About the Role

Flywire is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to bridge software engineering and data insights strategy. You will build complex data models and architect infrastructure for our Modern Data Stack, focusing on reliability, scalability, and automation.

Key Responsibilities

→Lead design and implementation of data infrastructure using Terraform
→Architect and maintain GitLab CI pipelines for dbt modeling
→Define and monitor SLIs, SLOs, and SLAs for data pipelines
→Automate data governance and access control policies
→Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes
→Optimize data warehouse performance and costs
→Lead development of complex data models using dbt
→Work with streaming data frameworks for real-time processing
→Collaborate with data scientists, BI developers, and other engineers
→Define standards for code reviews and engineering best practices
→Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data pipelines
→Evaluate and evangelize new data engineering technologies

Requirements

✓7+ years of experience in data engineering
✓Strong experience with Terraform and infrastructure as code
✓Proficiency in GitLab CI and dbt
✓Knowledge of SLIs, SLOs, and SLAs
✓Experience with RBAC/ABAC for data governance
✓Expertise in ETL/ELT processes and data pipeline design
✓Skills in data warehouse optimization and query tuning
✓Familiarity with streaming data frameworks
✓Ability to define and implement engineering standards
✓Experience mentoring junior engineers
✓Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
