About the Role
Focused Energy is an international deep-tech company based in Germany and the US, working to commercialize laser-driven nuclear fusion. We are seeking a Software Engineer to join our team and help design the “fuel” of the future by developing and scaling software solutions for advanced hardware set-ups involved in fusion target manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
- →Lead, organize, or support projects from start to finish
- →Set and gather requirements for software and hardware projects
- →Design software architectures and frameworks for real-time applications
- →Develop robust, reliable, and maintainable software for hardware systems
- →Participate in code reviews and uphold high code quality standards
- →Develop scalable interfaces for users and applications
- →Troubleshoot and debug software/hardware applications
- →Collaborate cross-functionally to solve extraordinary technical challenges
Requirements
- ✓Bachelor’s degree in computer science, physics, mathematics, or similar (Master’s degree preferred)
- ✓Proficient in at least one of these programming languages: C/C++ or Python
- ✓Strong understanding of software design patterns and best practices
- ✓Experience with databases and Linux operating systems
- ✓Proficient with Git for version control and team collaboration
- ✓Fluent in English (speaking and writing)
- ✓Methodical, organized, and proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making
- ✓Strong hands-on mentality and attention to project details
- ✓Adaptable, startup mindset, and ready to thrive in a dynamic environment
