About the Role
We are looking for a Lead QA Engineer to establish and lead the QA function at FreeBalance, a global technology company specializing in Government Resource Planning (GRP) solutions. This is a high-visibility role with significant ownership and long-term growth potential, evolving into a QA Manager position.
Key Responsibilities
- βBuild and lead the QA function within R&D from the ground up
- βDefine and implement a scalable QA operating model aligned with FreeBalanceβs SDLC
- βConduct functional, integration, system, and regression testing
- βLead the selection and implementation of QA automation tools, including AI-enabled solutions
- βDefine end-to-end QA workflows and establish quality standards
- βWork closely with Development and Functional Specification teams
- βProvide mentoring and technical guidance to future QA team members
- βDefine and track quality KPIs and introduce quality reporting
Requirements
- β10+ years of professional QA experience in complex enterprise environments
- β5+ years of experience in government, ERP, or GRP environments
- β10+ years of experience with test automation, frameworks, and tools
- β3+ years of team leadership, mentorship, or management experience
- βExtensive experience testing Java-based applications
- βStrong experience with multi-module, workflow-driven systems
- βDeep understanding of functional, system, integration, and regression testing
- βExperience designing QA processes from scratch
- βExperience with CI/CD automation and pipeline integrations
- βStrong analytical and diagnostic skills in complex systems
- βFamiliarity with technologies in the FreeBalance stack: Java, JEE, Spring Framework, Hibernate/JPA, JSF, React, Material UI, REST/SOAP, Apache Tomcat, Jasper, BIRT, Crystal, ActiveMQ
- βSuccess Metrics (First Year)
- βEstablishment of a fully functioning QA practice
- βDeployment of an automation framework covering core workflows
- βMeasurable improvements in defect leakage and release stability
- βDemonstrated adoption of QA processes across R&D
- βHiring and onboarding of 1+ additional QA resource(s) within 6 months
- βPromotion into a QA Manager role with an initial team of 3-5 engineers within 12β18 months
