About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our Monitor: Platform Insights team at GitLab. This role involves building a unified data event platform that enables users to query, visualize, and analyze data across all stages of the DevSecOps lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- βDevelop backend components and services in Golang that process high-scale, data-rich event streams
- βDesign and implement database interactions using PostgreSQL and ClickHouse
- βCollaborate with Product Management, UX, and other engineering teams to define, build, and iterate on monitoring and insights features
- βCraft maintainable, well-tested, and secure code following team standards
- βIntegrate data from multiple GitLab stages into a unified event platform
- βPartner with other GitLab product teams to embed monitoring and insights
- βMonitor system health and performance using tools like Prometheus and Grafana
- βParticipate in planning, estimation, and technical discussions
Requirements
- βExperience building backend services in Golang for high-scale applications
- βProficient with relational databases, including PostgreSQL and ClickHouse
- βUnderstanding of distributed, scalable, and reliable systems
- βExperience with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices
- βExperience with cloud and containerized environments (GCP, AWS, Kubernetes)
- βClear communication in English and a collaborative approach
