An overview of this role
As a Senior Paralegal, you will help GitLab manage disputes, claims, and legal requests in a way that supports the business and reduces risk. This role requires a deep understanding of litigation operations, with ownership of GitLab's e-discovery work across data preservation, collection, and discovery. You will partner closely with in-house attorneys and paralegals, IT, Information Security, and outside counsel to handle complex matters in a structured, scalable way, while also supporting broader response coordination for subpoenas, discovery requests, and other high-stakes legal matters. Reporting to the Senior Director of Risk Management & Dispute Resolution, you will improve how legal requests are handled across the company and help build clear, repeatable processes that support accurate and timely execution.
What you’ll do
• Lead complex e-discovery matters and strategic legal operations projects as the directly responsible individual.
• Operate GitLab's e-discovery program, including legal holds, data preservation, and cross-source collection across multi-custodian matters and cloud-native environments.
• Prepare and review legal responses, including subpoena responses, discovery materials, and case documentation, at the direction of counsel.
• Develop and refine processes, playbooks, and knowledge bases that improve consistency and governance across legal operations.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across Legal, IT, and Information Security to coordinate preservation, collection, and response workflows.
• Communicate legal risk and business considerations to senior leadership in a clear, practical way.
• Support litigation and dispute resolution work by organizing information, tracking requests, and helping teams execute against defined processes.
What you’ll bring
• Experience working in a paralegal or legal operations capacity with a focus on litigation support, whether in-house, at a law firm, through an e-discovery vendor, at a managed service provider, or across a combination of environments.
• Knowledge of e-discovery processes, forensic data collection, and evidence handling practices, including work involving multi-custodian matters and cloud-native or software-as-a-service data sources.
• Familiarity with tools used in legal operations and business collaboration, such as Everlaw, Slack, and Google Workspace.
• Ability to manage cross-functional projects involving legal, technical, and business stakeholders.
• Skill in legal research and in turning regulatory, legal, or industry findings into practical process improvements.
• Strength in written and verbal communication, organization, and analytical thinking.
• Adaptability to support a range of requests, matter types, and changing priorities in a fast-moving environment.
• Openness to applying transferable experience from related legal operations, litigation, or e-discovery work.
