About the Role
The Facilities Operations Manager is responsible for managing operational demands for assigned facilities in the Longwood Medical Area. This role requires strong organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to handle multiple tasks with limited resources.
Key Responsibilities
- →Manage maintenance and operations for assigned facilities
- →Monitor building system performance, energy usage, and aesthetics
- →Conduct audits of maintenance tasks for workmanship and completeness
- →Coordinate renovations with the Planning, Design, and Construction group
- →Participate in long-range and strategic planning
- →Develop and implement innovative processes to reduce operating costs
- →Monitor and manage contracted services
- →Serve as an Emergency Response Organization (ERO) member
Requirements
- ✓Knowledge of building systems, HVAC, electrical, and mechanical services
- ✓Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and projects
- ✓Strong communication skills with occupants and department coordinators
- ✓Experience with budgeting and financial planning
- ✓Attention to detail when reviewing bids and invoices
- ✓Ability to work in various environments, including dusty, noisy, or hazardous conditions
- ✓Physical ability to perform tasks requiring standing, bending, stooping, and reaching
- ✓Full range of physical motion to operate tools and equipment
- ✓Willingness to participate in benchmarking, industry education seminars, and conferences

- ✓Work is performed indoors and outdoors, occasionally in environments that are dusty, noisy, or which could have work hazards.
- ✓The position requires prolonged standing and frequent bending, stooping, and reaching daily.
- ✓The position requires working in confined spaces.
- ✓The position requires a full range of physical motion to operate manual and electrically-powered tools and electrical test equipment, to move throughout campus, including climbing stairs in all University buildings, and to work at heights.
