About the Role
Harvard Medical School IT is seeking an IT Support Learning Designer to champion the technological empowerment of the HMS community and affiliated faculty. This role focuses on developing IT training resources and documentation, designing engaging learning experiences, and facilitating communication around technology initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- →Design, develop, and deliver engaging IT learning experiences for faculty, staff, students, and affiliates across HMS.
- →Create, maintain, and improve IT documentation, user guides, and knowledge base content.
- →Collaborate with IT subject matter experts to identify learning needs and translate complex technical concepts into accessible materials.
- →Participate in outreach and communication efforts related to technology initiatives and service updates.
- →Apply human-centered design and accessibility best practices to all learning and communication deliverables.
- →Evaluate training effectiveness through data-driven assessments and implement continuous improvements.
- →Serve as a resource and advisor to IT teams on instructional design and communication strategies.
- →Write news and emails explaining technology changes and guide IT staff in their communications.
- →Contribute to IT community engagement through events, workshops, and cross-departmental collaborations.
Requirements
- ✓Experience in instructional design and developing training materials.
- ✓Strong understanding of human-centered design and accessibility principles (WCAG, ADA, Section 508).
- ✓Proficiency with platforms such as Canvas, Teams, and ServiceNow.
- ✓Ability to translate complex technical concepts into accessible learning materials.
- ✓Excellent communication and writing skills.
- ✓Experience in evaluating training effectiveness and implementing improvements.
