ABOUT THE PLATFORM TEAM
Platform at hx builds the foundation that enables engineering teams to ship secure, scalable applications at velocity. We're evolving towards an AI-first platform where self-service infrastructure, intelligent automation, and reusable components compound developer productivity and operational excellence. This isn't about maintaining the status quo; we're reimagining how modern software delivery works.
As a Senior Platform Engineer, you'll shape this evolution directly. You'll productise platform capabilities that make security, reliability, and best practices the default path, not the exception. You'll embed AI into how we build and operate, reducing manual toil and accelerating cycle times. You'll partner across engineering, security, and product teams to understand needs, drive adoption, and continuously raise the bar for what great infrastructure looks like.
This role demands ownership beyond tickets: you'll ship meaningful capabilities end to end, measure their impact, and iterate based on real feedback. You'll work with teams who expect excellence and who will stretch your thinking. Platform here is a force multiplier, not a service desk, and the best work happens when infrastructure enables autonomy rather than gates it.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Deliver self-service platform capabilities that drive measurable adoption across engineering teams, building reusable infrastructure components that reduce provisioning time and embed security and reliability by default
- Embed AI into developer and operational workflows, implementing intelligent automation across CI/CD pipelines and operational tooling that demonstrably reduces manual effort and accelerates delivery cycles
- Lay the foundation for agentic platform capabilities, prototyping and shipping initial features that enable more autonomous workflows with clear time savings and operational improvements teams use weekly
- Strengthen security posture and operational standards through infrastructure design, ensuring new services adhere to platform-defined best practices with measurable reductions in misconfigurations and security exceptions
- Treat the platform as a product, continuously improving developer experience through simplification, standardisation, and feedback loops, prioritising usability and value for internal customers
- Partner across engineering, security, and product teams to understand requirements, influence technical decisions, and drive adoption of platform capabilities through clear communication and demonstrated value
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO HAVE DONE
- Designed and built scalable, secure cloud infrastructure in production environments, demonstrating deep hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Pulumi, CloudFormation) and modern CI/CD practices that deliver production-grade platform capabilities
- Shipped self-service infrastructure components that were actively adopted by engineering teams, with measurable improvements in deployment velocity, reliability, or developer experience
- Leveraged AI and automation to solve real operational problems, whether through implementing AI-driven tooling, building intelligent workflows, or experimenting with emerging technologies and translating them into practical capabilities
- Taken end-to-end ownership of complex platform problems from discovery through delivery and adoption, focusing on measurable outcomes rather than outputs and maintaining high standards for quality, reliability, and security
- Collaborated effectively with cross-functional stakeholders, translating technical concepts for non-technical audiences, gathering requirements, and influencing adoption of platform capabilities through clear value demonstration
- Balanced long-term architectural vision with pragmatic delivery, iterating on solutions using data, feedback, and metrics to continuously improve performance, cost efficiency, and reliability at scale

COMPENSATION
At hx, we're committed to salary transparency. You'll always have clarity on pay early in the process - our Talent Partner will share details with you during initial conversations - and we're working towards publishing salary information for all roles globally.
Because we're building at the intersection of technology/SaaS and insurance, our roles don't always map neatly onto traditional benchmarks. Our approach is to design compensation that's competitive in the market, fair across teams, and aligned with the impact our people make.
