About the Role

IonQ is seeking an Intellectual Property Paralegal to assist with protecting and leveraging the company’s IP. This role involves docketing, tracking, and monitoring patent portfolio activities, data entry into patent and trademark tracking systems, and assisting with IP document preparation.

Key Responsibilities

→Support IP Counsels on IP docketing, management, licensing, and transactional matters
→Serve as a primary point of contact for IP and portfolio management tools
→Manage maintenance fee/annuities
→Assist IP counsel with managing outside counsel handled patent/trademark filings
→Support IP counsel on transactional matters, including IP licensing administration
→Administer internal IP related databases and generate reports for metrics, budgets, and dashboards
→Collaborate with business partners to provide information regarding IP portfolio matters
→Work on trademark renewals and use declarations
→Perform preliminary trademark searches using US, EP, and Int’l databases
→Provide general support for patent and trademark activities to assigned IP counsel
→Set up matters in IP management software and billing systems
→Support recurring metrics and reporting
→Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and training materials

Requirements

✓At least 7+ years of relevant experience (corporate legal department preferred)
✓Expertise in Microsoft Office software, SharePoint, and document review platforms
✓Expertise in IP docketing policies and procedures, IP management software, and IP licensing practices
✓Experience using complex electronic databases, such as electronic docketing systems
✓Strong written and oral communication skills
✓Familiarity with USPTO procedures
✓Ability to execute tasks and projects independently
✓Demonstrated ability to build and foster effective, collaborative relationships
