About the Role
We are looking for a Junior Technical Animator to join Larian Studios, the studio behind Baldurβs Gate 3 & Divinity: Original Sin 2. This role focuses on helping maintain and improve our animation pipelines and tools to create high-quality games.
Key Responsibilities
- βCollaborate with seniors to write Python scripts for maintaining and improving animation tools and pipelines
- βPrototype new gameplay or cinematic animation mechanics with Animation and Code teams
- βSupport the rigging team in creating characters, creatures, heads, armors, etc., ensuring their correct functionality
- βWork with multiple development teams including Animation, Art, Cinematics, Gameplay Code, and Tools
- βIntegrate assets into the game and validate their proper functioning
- βDebug and resolve bugs assigned while meeting production deadlines
- βCommunicate with the production team on concerns and production issues
- βSupport the department Lead in ad hoc tasks and duties
Requirements
- βGood understanding of Python scripting or similar languages, with at least one shipped or completed project involving custom scripts, tool development, or workflow improvements
- βPractical experience implementing character animation mechanics in node-based systems like Unreal
- βCompetent in rigging and skinning in Maya
- βTeam-oriented with a strong desire for collaborative participation in a team-based pipeline across different geographic locations
- βAble to take direction and feedback positively, adapt to change, and thrive under tight deadlines
- βEnthusiastic, methodical, and organized approach to work with high quality standards
- βSense of initiative, originality, and resourcefulness in problem solving
- βProfessional level of written and spoken English
