At YouVersion, we build technology that helps people around the world connect with God every day. The YouVersion Software Engineer is primarily responsible for developing software for various YouVersion projects and products, focusing on backend API development, mobile development, or web application development. This role will support the development, review, and testing of various YouVersion projects while providing ongoing technical support for software.Â

What You'll Do
• Contribute to building and maintaining software across the YouVersion platform.
• Take tasks from idea to implementation with support from your team.
• Write clean, maintainable code and participate in code reviews.
• Build and run tests to ensure features are reliable and user-friendly.
• Debug issues and help keep systems running smoothly.
• Collaborate with designers, product managers, and engineers to deliver meaningful features.

Technical Experience
You don’t need experience in everything below. We’re looking for strength in one area and a willingness to learn.
Backend / API Development
• Experience with Python or Golang
• Basic understanding of APIs and scalable systems
Mobile Development
• Flutter/Dart, iOS (Swift), or Android experience
• Familiarity with mobile development and testing practices
Web Development
• Experience with React, Node.js, or similar frameworks
• Working knowledge of JavaScript or TypeScript
Data (Optional)
• Basic experience querying data (e.g., BigQuery)
• Familiarity with core data concepts
What You Bring
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Bachelor’s degree, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 1-3 years of related work experience.
• Eagerness to learn and contribute to real-world systems
• Motivation to build software that has meaningful impact
