About the Role
Mariana Minerals is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to lead the development and deployment of ML systems that control mineral refining facilities and inform operational decisions. This role involves working on autonomous refining operations and optimizing recovery rates, energy consumption, and reagent usage.
Key Responsibilities
- →Partner with process chemistry and engineering teams to develop data-driven models of chemical unit operations.
- →Train and deploy reinforcement learning models for mineral processing operations.
- →Use simulators to pretrain RL algorithms and diagnose gaps between simulated and real-world performance.
- →Build techno-economic models integrating process simulation with costs and price scenarios.
- →Collaborate on sensor and instrumentation strategy to improve model performance.
- →Design and evolve data architecture for ML systems.
Requirements
- ✓4+ years of post-school experience in machine learning engineering.
- ✓Strong grounding in machine learning fundamentals.
- ✓Experience with techno-economic modeling, process simulation, or quantitative analysis.
- ✓Proven ability to develop, deploy, and operate ML models in production environments.
- ✓Self-starter mindset with comfort in high-ambiguity environments.
- ✓Ability to work across the ML stack from data pipelines to model inference.
