About the Role
Mercor is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Agents team, focusing on building autonomous systems for internal operations and scaling for client companies. This role involves designing and shipping production agents that automate workflows and decision-making processes.
Key Responsibilities
- →Build and maintain MCP servers for agent access to platform data and actions
- →Design evaluation frameworks to measure agent decision quality
- →Develop action queues and playbook orchestration systems
- →Instrument agent systems for outcomes tracking and improvement
- →Collaborate with operators to identify automation opportunities
- →Debug and harden agent systems for reliability at scale
- →Contribute to foundational patterns and infrastructure
Requirements
- ✓Strong backend engineering fundamentals in Python
- ✓Experience with LLM APIs, tool use, and multi-step workflows
- ✓Ability to design evaluation frameworks and analyze failure modes
- ✓Experience shipping systems that interact with the real world
- ✓Understanding of distributed systems, APIs, and production infrastructure
- ✓Full-stack experience is a plus
