Lead Software Engineer (Frontend) - P4

New Relic's observability platform is trusted by organizations globally to facilitate better software development through data-driven insights. Logs constitute a core element of this platform. To begin understanding a system, the initial step is transmitting logs and other telemetry to New Relic. Our thousands of customers depend on their logs, analyzing petabytes of log data, to effectively detect and resolve issues.
We are seeking a seasoned frontend engineer with backend experience to provide strategic, technical leadership within a new, fast-growing team. This team is focused on Logs Intelligence, a critical suite of AI-driven innovations designed to transform raw, unstructured log data into actionable insights. What youβll do
β’ Build and maintain customer-facing UIs that interface with high-throughput data streaming systems
β’ Build and maintain robust backend services and APIs to support frontend functionality and business logic.
β’ Work collaboratively with product managers, designers, architects, researchers, and other engineers to ship software incrementally with frequent customer feedback
β’ Contribute to code reviews, evangelize engineering standards, and mentor more junior team members.
β’ Participate in on-call rotation to support our services
This role requires
β’ 8+ years of full-stack experience, with primary focus on UI development
β’ Expertise in React, including hooks, state management, and component-based architecture
β’ Proficiency in frontend unit testing and automated end-to-end testing using frameworks like Playwright
β’ Solid experience in Java or Python for backend API development
β’ Excellent communication skills to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders using Slack, Zoom, and documentation tools such as Confluence and Google docs/presentations
Bonus points if you have
β’ Experience in building AI-powered applications
β’ Experience working on a high throughput product
β’ Familiarity with streaming platforms like Kafka
