ABOUT NOMAD
Nomad is unlocking economic opportunity for everyone in the long-term rental community. We offer property owners guaranteed rent and peace of mind, while delivering a better rental experience for residents. Backed by leading investors, we're transforming a massive, fragmented market with technology that makes renting better for everyone involved.
WHY THIS ROLE EXISTS
Nomad is looking for a detail-oriented and technically-adept Product Manager who can operate at the seam of product + engineering: turning real-world problems into build-ready scope, making priority and trade-off calls, and driving outcomes across customer-facing experiences and operator tooling.
This is not a generic βPM as researcher/strategistβ role - though you'll need to deeply understand our customers and business. This is not a quasi-coding role. Your focus is to be a conduit from Engineering to Product and the business bringing technical clarity, execution quality, and engineering leverage.
WHAT YOUβLL OWN
- Technical problem definition: translate ambiguous business goals into crisp system-level problem statements, constraints, and measurable success criteria.
- Scope & priority trade-offs: make decisions with Eng on what ships now vs later, quality vs speed, short-term fixes vs durable solutions - aligned with business impact.
- Build-ready specifications and tickets: write requirements engineers trust and appreciate (edge cases, data implications, API/contracts, workflows, failure modes, acceptance criteria, rollout + rollback, monitoring).
- Day-to-day partnership with engineering: refine designs, unblock execution, ensure alignment, and keep quality high without adding heavy process.
- Data-backed validation: use SQL (and instrumentation understanding) to validate behavior, quantify impact, debug issues, and confirm post-launch outcomes.
- Shipping + operations excellence: lead release readiness, coordinate cross-functional dependencies, handle incidents/postmortems follow-up, and continuously improve delivery hygiene. Learn our operational processes.
- Product shaping: contribute to roadmap shaping and iteration - especially where technical constraints, data, or system behavior determine whatβs feasible and valuable.
WHAT YOUβLL WORK ON (EXAMPLES)
- Customer-facing workflows where correctness, edge cases, and reliability matter.
- Operator-facing tooling that scales internal operations and improves customer experience.
- Integrations and system interactions (APIs, webhooks, background jobs, data flows).
- Instrumentation, analytics definitions, and βdoes the product actually behave like we think?β verification.
WHAT THIS ROLE IS NOT
- Not a role where success is primarily customer interview volume, competitive tear-downs, or design ideation.
- Not a role where you are writing code or building features yourself.
- Not a βstatus meetingβ or Gantt-chart-first project management job.
- Not a role where you can be successful without strong technical fluency.
WHAT WEβRE LOOKING FOR
REQUIRED SKILLS
- You demonstrably are at the cutting edge trying and finding value in AI tools to make you more effective.
- While you are not a software engineer, you can read and reason about code well enough to understand how a system works.
- You are strong in SQL and can independently validate product behavior and outcomes (joins, aggregations, window functions).
- You are fluent in modern product delivery with engineers: scoping, ticketing, acceptance criteria, rollout plans, monitoring, and fast iteration.
- You can navigate GitHub workflows (issues, PRs, reviews) and are comfortable sharing your GitHub profile.
- You have a track record of shipping meaningful product improvements and owning outcomes, not just writing docs.
PREFERRED
- Experience with integrations, payments/fintech-like workflows, risk/eligibility logic, or other βedge-case heavyβ domains.
- Experience improving internal tools / operator workflows in addition to customer-facing UX.
- Familiarity with observability tooling (logs/metrics/traces) and incident response patterns.
- Familiarity with the long-term rental industry.
WORKING STYLE
- High-clarity communicator who can translate between leadership intent and engineering reality.
- Opinionated about quality but pragmatic about sequencing.
- Low-ego, high-agency: you unblock, you simplify, you finish.
HOW YOUβLL BE EVALUATED
- Engineering teams consistently say: βthis is the clearest PM Iβve ever worked with.β
- Projects ship with fewer late surprises because risks and edge cases were found early.
- Post-launch metrics and system behavior are validated (not guessed).
Throughput and quality improve in the areas you touch.
