Why this role is exciting:
We are looking for a Staff SDET to help lead our quality engineering (QE) technical strategy and implementation. The Staff SDET acts as a QE Architect. Their responsibilities include software architecture and development, with a focus on the design and implementation for all of Optroβs test automation frameworks, test infrastructure, and supporting tooling. The Staff SDET is a QE domain expert with advanced programming skills who can design and create automation testing tools and frameworks to help engineer quality in all parts of our tech stack. This strategic focus includes pioneering the use of agentic tooling and advanced AI/ML techniques to drive innovation in the QE space.
To be successful as a Staff SDET, you should have excellent time management and organizational skills, as well as strong communication and technical leadership skills. You should have a passion for designing, developing, and testing code, as well as embracing and learning new technologies.
Responsibilities:
- Own technical and architectural components of test frameworks, test infrastructure and test tooling
- Design, create, maintain, and optimize test automation frameworks for Optro web applications
- Develop and lead synthetic data & generative AI strategy
- Design and implement high-level architectural roadmap to transition legacy test frameworks into self-healing, AI-driven ecosystems
- Develop deep understanding of the systemβs code structure and component interactions
- Evaluate, prototype, and implement cutting-edge agentic tooling to enhance test automation frameworks and test tooling
- Manage technical communications and provide technical mentorship for more junior SDETs
- Collaborate with horizontal (infrastructure, platform, architecture) teams and product teams
- Provide technical feedback on product design and architecture
- Offer feedback on the testability of functional elements
- Research test tools, frameworks, testing methodologies, and trends, and upgrade existing practices and processes to meet the ever-evolving technological landscape
What you will need to succeed:
- Advanced software design and programming skills
- Expertise in test methodologies and their corresponding tools
- Experience in architecting and implementing test automation frameworks
- Experience in implementing automation/CI pipeline workflows
- Strong skills and experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms
- The ability to recognize risks and errors in application design
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Good time management and organizational skills
- Desire to mentor more junior engineers
- The ability to stay current with the technology industry
- A passion for testing, development, and design
