About the Role
We are looking for a Staff Engineer to join our Settlement Team at PayNearMe. This role involves designing and maintaining systems that handle high-throughput money movement and settlement, ensuring funds move accurately and on time.
Key Responsibilities
- →Scope, design, build, and maintain APIs, services, and workflows that reliably process high-scale money movement and settlement.
- →Own the architectural direction for the settlement domain in partnership with the CTO; produce and maintain architecture documentation and drive alignment across teams.
- →Review and approve architecture decision records (ADRs) and technical designs for settlement-related changes.
- →Drive end-to-end execution for large, ambiguous initiatives, reducing risk early and delivering in phases.
- →Improve correctness and operational safety across settlement flows, designing for edge cases and implementing idempotency, reconciliation guarantees, and safe backfills.
- →Partner with Engineering Manager, Product, Performance, CTO, and other Staff peers to shape roadmaps and strategy for settlement.
- →Raise engineering standards across the team and broader org by defining and driving consistent patterns for building and operating money-movement systems.
- →Drive adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices to improve throughput and quality, especially for testing, incident response, code review, and documentation.
Requirements
- ✓Experience with Ruby on Rails, Go, AWS, Kubernetes, Datadog, Looker, and Docker.
- ✓Strong understanding of high-throughput money movement systems.
- ✓Ability to design and maintain architecture documentation and drive alignment across teams.
- ✓Experience with large, ambiguous initiatives and end-to-end execution.
- ✓Knowledge of operational safety practices and edge case handling.
- ✓Experience with AI-assisted engineering practices.
