<h3>Overview of the role:</h3>
<p>Join us at PolicyMe! We're modernizing insurance and we'd like your help. The Canadian insurance landscape has remained largely unchanged for decades and we are in the process of changing that. We're a remote-first, Toronto-based startup with big ambitions.</p>
<p>PolicyMe is looking to add a <strong>Quality Assurance Analyst β Manual and Automation Testing</strong> to join our small but mighty QA team, to support the releases of our future product innovations. <strong>This is a fixed term</strong> <strong>18βmonth maternity leave contract!</strong></p>
<p>You'll gain expertise testing new products in the InsurTech space and help maintain a high-quality release cadence while we continue building out a QA program that ensures the robustness of our front-end customer experience and back-end systems. Youβll also get exposure to our <strong>AI-supported QA automation</strong> initiative, combining hands-on manual testing with modern tooling.</p>

What you'll be doing:
β’ Participate in daily QA standups and the standups of your dedicated engineering team, staying close to requirements, specs, and release plans.
β’ Assist in building comprehensive testing plans with the QA team and design clear test cases for assessing each feature's readiness for deployment.
β’ Manage all aspects of the test plan to enable an on-time launch, including independently executing test cases, documenting progress for traceability purposes, and communicating testing statuses to key stakeholders (engineering, product, customer success etc.).
β’ Perform thorough manual testing across environments, devices, and browsers, including regression and exploratory testing around frequent releases.
β’ Log, track, and retest bugs in Jira and Zephyr, working with developers to prioritize and resolve issues effectively.
β’ Work with QA, product and engineering teams to identify possible new tools or internal features that can improve QA testing quality and speed.
β’ Contribute to our AI-supported QA automation project (e.g. TestSigma), helping identify scenarios for automation and supporting the creation and maintenance of automated tests.
β’ Support developers to improve automated testing, ensuring new features are added to our automated regression testing suite where appropriate.
β’ Work with product managers to identify which bugs must be resolved before deployment and which are not critical path.
β’ Help develop and execute a structured process for triaging bugs identified across the organization.
β’ Detail out bugs to support resolution with the engineering team, including bug replication and root cause analysis.
What we're looking for:
β’ Quality assurance experience: You preferably have 3β5 years of experience conducting quality assurance testing for web-based platforms, with a strong emphasis on manual testing.
β’ Comfort doing a lot of manual testing: You are going to have to test a lot of new features. You understand that this can be very exciting, but also requires you to do repetitive tests from time to time to ensure deployment is ready. You are familiar with developing and executing manual test cases across devices and browsers.
β’ Exposure to QA automation / software development concepts: While this is primarily a manual role, you have some automation or software development knowledge/training and are interested in contributing to and learning from our AI-supported automation work.
β’ Attention to detail: You are a safe pair of hands and can thoroughly think through all niche scenarios to test based on how our customers use our product.
β’ Comfort with technical topics: While you don't need to know how to code, you will need to be comfortable becoming familiar with technical topics. You are someone who doesn't shy away from complexity and can build a deep understanding of our systems.
β’ Fast learner: You are able to ramp up quickly on new topics and ask clarifying questions to deepen your understanding of a given product feature.
β’ Strong communication: You are able to articulate key test status updates, test findings and QA program updates to a diverse audience, from walking through bug details with developers to summarizing testing progress to function leads.
β’ Drive initiatives and be a strong team player: You are always looking for new and better solutions to existing challenges. You are team-oriented, humble, and supportive, and youβre willing to go above and beyond (e.g. staying late when needed) to help the team hit release goals.
Why join us:
β’ Generous PTO - 20 vacation days
β’ A comprehensive benefits plan with premiums paid in full by PolicyMe
β’ Investment in your professional development, including an L&D budget, AI tooling budget, performance reviews twice a year and ongoing feedback to ensure you reach your highest potential
β’ An extremely high performing, low-ego, remote-first team that is truly disrupting an old industry
β’ Option to work from home or our Toronto-based office (bonus: we cover the costs to bring all our employees in-person twice a year for experiential socials!)
β’ Compensation: The total target cash compensation for this role is $77,000 - $91,300 CAD, based on experience. Weβll walk through the details together during the interview.
